Here is a selection of the best Australian foodie escapes to help you wind down & enjoy some precious time off:

Bannisters By The Sea, Mollymook. Internationally acclaimed restauranteur Rick Stein and his wife created this coastal hotel which unsurprisingly features an excellent seafood restaurant called Rick Stein at Bannisters. Sangoma in the Greater Blue Mountains has recently been taken over by the Spicers hotel group, renowned for their luxury gourmet retreats. Byron at Byron Resort & Spa, Byron Bay. No visit to Byron Bay would be complete without dining at these two restaurants in the hinterland - Harvest Cafe + Town Restaurant Biota Dining & Rooms in Bowral won a coveted chefs hat the first year it opened and now is one of the few regional restaurants in Australia to hold two de Russie Suites Orange is the perfect base for a long weekend exploring the rich & bountiful countryside or to attend the festival F.O.O.D week 31st March - 9th April 2017

Noosa, Sunshine Coast is a longstanding foodie hotspot. It's hard to recommend just one place to base yourself however I would recommend getting a self serviced apartment here....here is a long list. Must visit restaurants are Wasabi, Bistro C, Sails & Rickys The annual Noosa International Food & Wine Festival could be the perfect excuse to visit 18th - 21st May. Spicers Clovelly Estate, a gorgeous french inspired countryside retreat with its own two hatted restaurant called Long Apron & a cooking school!

The Lake House is a prized hotel, two hatted restaurant & spa perched on the banks of Lake Daylesford. You can't help but wind down here. Australian food hero Alla Wolf-Tasker is the co-owner & culinary director. Here there is a focus on seasonal & regional cuisine. Grampians is another destination rich in local produce. A tourist attraction in itself is the Royal Mail Hotel, with a two hatted dining room, open fires & sweeping views making it ideal for an Autumn & Winter getaway. There is the Grampians Grape Escape festival on the 6th-7th of May which celebrates local wine & food all in the one place. Melbourne - known as Australia's gastronomical capital is full of fine dining & local urban hangouts, a mecca for foodies. Try staying at the Olsen or Adelphi. Some standout restaurants are Attica, Cutler & Co, Cumulus Inc & Flower Drum.

The Agrarian Garden is a special place for foodies. A sustainable farm based cooking school offering paddock to plate experiences. Unfortunately they don't have any rooms, however provide a good list of nearby options to make your stay complete. A luxury, charming place to stay, eat & learn to cook, the Red Leather Inn is a collection of historic sandstone buildings near Launceston. Mona in Hobart could be the beating heart of the city. A focal point for art, food, culture + you can now sleep there. A perfect base to explore the emerging foodie destination.

The Louise is luxury accommodation in the gorgeous wine region, Barossa Valley. The hotel restaurant Appellation has been awarded 3 chef hats! Whilst you're perusing the Barossa, we recommend visiting Hentley Farm Restaurant & Winery too. Another wine district worth visiting is the Clare Valley, if only to eat at Terroir restaurant. Their motto is sophisticated Locavore Dining with a strong focus on seasonality. The 25km famous Riesling Trail is the ideal way to sample local wines and food produce, while you enjoy the picture postcard local landscape. The annual Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend is on the 15th-17th May. Treat yourself and stay at this luxury rural retreat North Bundaleer. Southern Ocean Lodge has established itself as an iconic Australian hotel which celebrates luxury and great food. It really is a unique and rare travel experience on Kangaroo Island. The Kangaroo Island FEASTival (2017 tbc) will be a degustation of authentic dining experiences.

Cape Lodge is located in the internationally renowned foodie region Margaret River. Minutes away from pristine beaches, coastline and some of the best Australian wineries including Vasse Felix, Cullen and Moss Wood. Cape Lodge is a luxury hotel including an award winning hotel. The hugely popular Gourmet Escape festival is on the 17th - 19th November so there is plenty of time for you to plan a visit. The winery Vasse Felix has a two hatted restaurant showcasing some of the best regional flavours.
