Rise & Shine at SMH Growers' Markets
Shopify API
Rain has been falling on Sydney all of this week so unfortunately there wasn't much of the shine at the SMH Growers' Markets today, however the abundance of fresh produce, sweet aroma of coffee & baked bread made up for this. Not to mention a guest appearance by Matt Moran.
It was my first visit to these markets however they've been operating for nearly 15 years, opening the first Saturday of every month from 7am-11am (where have I been?!?). Their home is at Pyrmont Park with a beautiful back drop of yachts & super cruisers bobbing on the water of Pyrmont Bay, oh and Star casino on the opposite side.
There are over 70 producers showcasing & selling everything from fresh seasonal fruit & veg to handcrafted butter & cheeses, meats, breads, honey, flowers and the list goes on & on. You won't have to wait to get home for breakfast or lunch as there are speciality stalls selling bites like free range egg & bacon rolls, sweet pastries, Reuben & Rachel sandwiches (the Rachel is apparently the best Rachel Matt Moran has ever had).
Inspired by Matt's cooking demonstration, the fresh Autumn veg & gloomy weather I filled my bag with sweet butternut squash, french shallots, dutch carrots, Pepe Saya Butter, a mixed bag of knobbly potatoes & one free range Thirlmere chicken to roast for our Sunday Session. I also have to admit that I picked up a freshly baked banana & salted caramel muffin from the Patisse stall to devour later...balance is everything right?!
